7 Different Food Treats For Your Guests

At the weekend I decided to make the most out of the bank holiday. We made an impromptu visit to the Brighton and Hove Foodies Festival! Now of course a wedding fayre is a great place to get ideas, meet contractors and get an idea on price but I never expected to get all this from a food festival! I was walking round and all I could think was ‘oh that would be good for a wedding’! There were so many vendors that could cater for events and weddings. So basing on what I’ve seen along the way here’s my list of alternative food and drinks for your wedding.

WAFFLE BAR

Definitely one of my favourite ideas! Get rid of the traditional hors d’oeurves and swap them for some sweet treats. Serve these with fresh fruit, chocolate, maple syrup, sprinkles; quite possibly anything you would want on your waffle! Have it all and let your guests create their perfect snack. This is a great idea to DIY yourself or call the caterers in for.

SIGNATURE COCKTAILS

A great way to get your guests talking. Cocktails have definitely taken the wedding scene by storm in the last year especially for all the summer weddings. You can create a drink for her and a drink for him OR you can come up with a signature cocktail for all your guests to enjoy. With a variety of colours, cocktails can accompany any colour scheme perfectly! Not to mentioned all the different fruit ciders that are coming out now; there’s even one made of cranberries!

MARSHMALLOWS

Marshmallows have come a long way since your average pink and white ones. You can now get them in al types of flavours such as coconut, salted caramel, mint chocolate; even mojito flavour! If your venue allows open flames an evening of smore making will get everyone mingling. If you’re really into marshmallows you can always have a marshmallow fountain.

DIY BAGELS

OK so I’m really playing on the stereotype now but hey it’s a Jewish wedding, of course bagels are going to be somewhere! Have guests customise their own bagels with a spread of all the fillings you can think of. Smoked salmon and cream cheese may be the obvious choices but think out side of the box. My favourite pineapple and cheese or put a sweet twist on things and fill with apples and chocolate spread!

SPUD STATION

I really like this idea! Tom always calls me his JP; no not Jewish Princess, his jacket potato. Why not have a spud bar filled with chips, potato skins, jacket potatoes and fillings. Who doesn’t love potatoes! It’s different and also gives that extra bit of details especially if you have a nickname like mine.

ALCOHOLIC ICE LOLLIES

Another trend which has become massive this year. Prosecco lollies in particular are all the craze. It’s ideal for those summer months and something different for the guests. These treats are easy to do at home yourself and they don’t take long at all to make. I’ll be making sure I try these out for myself!

ICE CREAM VAN

Another idea for your summer wedding; an ice cream van! Just like marshmallows the variety of flavours you can get now is ginormous! That little something for your guests whilst you’re off taking photos. Most carts along with your choice of flavours come with all the toppings too! Let your guests remember what it was like being a child again and let them get creative!
